Shifting Focus
The world is full of distraction. Our attention is being 'stolen' by an overload of information. We need to get it back!
Try our highly original program that uses the wonderful game of Chess to harness our concentration and focus to make better decisions in the workplace.

A bespoke program to sharpen your attention
Using the game of Chess we challenge your team to focus, concentrate and make clear decisions under pressure. And, we have fun along the way! It does not matter if you are not a Chess player. We will teach you !
The Program
This program highlights the critical elements of concentration, focus, attention and decision making. The game of Chess is used to highlight and put into practice these skills. A short conversation to better understand your team will help us to adapt the program to suit your needs.
Structure
A 2 - 3 hour session that involves instruction, puzzles and competition. The level of teaching is adapted to your team. Even if people have not played, they can learn and enjoy the program. Participants will be in teams so they can discuss ideas and get help from those who may know a little more about the game.
Rules
The game will be explained by an experience Chess coach and expert facilitator. There will be time to make sure everyone understands the way the pieces move. This is part of the challenge and ANYONE can learn. More experienced players will be spread into different teams to ensure a level playing field.
Competition (fun and lighthearted)
We will make sure that the way in which players are matched ensures a good competition. All games will be played using a Chess clock to make sure there is a result and that games do not go for too long. Managing time is also an important part of the skill of thinking under pressure.
Analysis
Half way through the program, we will take some time to assess the performance of the group. Further teaching and some simple ideas about strategy and tactics will be given. The challenge for participants will be to see if they can improve in their next round of games.
The final result
At the conclusion of the program, we will announce the winning team. There will also be a short discussion about what was observed both during the learning phases and the competition phases.
Finally, there will be an option for those that are keen to continue their learning and further develop their ability to sharpen their focus and attention and improve their decision making.
